The open house will provide you with an opportunity to become familiar with the intent, content and implications of the study as it applies to the whole of the Town of Oakville. Consultants to the town developed draft land use policies for power generation including cogeneration facilities. The purpose of the study was to review the existing official plan and zoning controls and recommend changes where appropriate. The study includes information and recommendations relating to locational considerations, potential impacts, other municipal approaches, policy and regulatory frameworks, proposed definitions, study requirements, and proposed official plan and zoning by-law amendments. Town planning staff are proceeding with a public consultation strategy to ensure that town residents and stakeholders are informed, and provided with ample opportunities to provide input into the final draft. The public open house is a drop-in style event. Information panels will be on display, and staff will be available for questions of clarification. A short presentation will be given at 3 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The presentation will provide an overview of the draft policy, and highlight key points for discussion at upcoming workshops. %ackground materials will be available for pick up as well as pre-registration sign up sheets for participation in upcoming workshops to be held in May. The study is being initiated to develop, evaluate and recommend preferred alternatives for the stabilization and rehabilitation of the creek channel and banks, along with possible flood/flow control improvements along )ourteen Mile Creek. The inventory of the local physical and social environment has been completed. A set of alternative solutions have been developed to address the identified issues. These alternatives are being evaluated and presented to the public and agencies for comment. The study is being carried out in accordance with the planning and design process for n6chedule %' projects as outlined in the Municipal Engineers Association Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) document (October 2000, as amended in 2007). The class EA process includes public/external agency consultation, and an evaluation of alternative solutions and alternative design concepts.
