The 2010 campaign lands on the week of April 18-24, and Volunteer Canada wants to make sure that your organization is prepared to celebrate the achievements and hard work of all the volunteers around you! Thanks to the generous support of Investors Group, Volunteer Canada has developed a wealth of resources, social media tools and products to help. Take the time this National Volunteer Week to recognize the 12.5 million volunteers nationwide by saying thank you. In the last year, they gave 2.1 billion hours of their time, energy and skills to the benefit of our community services, shelters, hospitals, sports teams, environment, political movements, disaster relief, international aid and development agencies and arts and culture scene to name a few. They are the selfless individuals who demonstrate their genuine compassion for the well being of others and in support of essential causes, by taking action and by making a difference. The campaign's theme, volunteers. from compassion to action. encompasses their inspiration. As we enter this new decade we have developed a new National Volunteer Week campaign with a fresh new look and innovative ways to communicate. We've incorporated social media and invite all our members to join us on the National Volunteer Week Facebook page and our NVW Twitter feed. We will continue to provide you with the campaign staples: stylized posters, postcards, web buttons and banners, and a campaign media toolkit. This year, we are also introducing some new promotional items that you can purchase as thank you gifts for those volunteers you wish to recognize. This decade we have seen volunteers represent our communities as firefighters, builders, maintenance keepers, organizers, coaches, and aid workers to name a few.
