The fundraising dinner will be Wednesday, May 12 with proceeds going to the only women's shelter in Halton. "Unfortunately, we still have such a strong need for women's shelters to exist and they exist in our community. We hope we can help the shelter raise more awareness about its services and programs, and at the same time, raise some additional funds to help keep the organization running," said Bob Caster, club president. Keynote speaker is CTV anchor Christine Bentley with entertainment from Cathy Elliot and local sports hero Dan Ferrone as the master of ceremonies. "We are honoured to have been chosen as the charity of choice for this event," said Carm Bozzo, development manager for Halton Women's Place. "Having the support from the Oakville Trafalgar Lions Club is wonderful as it shows how the Oakville community supports our organization." The event, to be held at the Oakville Conference and Banquet Centre, begins at 6 p.m. with a silent auction and entertainment. Dinner is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $100. The Oakville Trafalgar Lions Club is part of the world's largest service organization and is very active in Oakville and Halton. All its members are volunteers.
