Art and Age are in the spotlight An art exhibit at the Joshua Creek Heritage Centre aims to raise awareness for a program focused on senior safety. The exhibit, Art & Age: Elder Vibrancy, opens Sunday, April 25. Featured at its opening will be numerous dignitaries, including the Ontario minister responsible for seniors Gerry Phillips. The exhibit features work by well-known Canadian senior artists. Hosted by the Ontario Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse in collaboration with the Art Centre, the exhibition will promote the province-wide Seniors Safety Line. The show focuses on the vitality of Ontario's senior citizens and reminds the population at large of the dignity and respect seniors deserve. The Seniors Safety Line is a telephone resource funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation that provides abused seniors with confidential assistance and advice in 154 languages for 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It was launched in 2009. The Joshua Creek Heritage Centre is located at 1086 Burnhamthorpe Rd. E. The opening event runs 1-4 p.m. The exhibit continues to May 23. R001671476
