Region's rain barrel sale returns this weekend They're 20 per cent cheaper than last year, but with the same water capture quality. Starting Saturday, May 1, Halton Region will once again host four rain barrel sale events to help promote wise outdoor water use during the summer months. This year's rain barrels have a new look and price at only $36 each, compared to the $45 price tag last spring. The Region sells the barrels at the wholesale cost, therefore sales are restricted to Halton residents only and to one barrel per household. Last year, Halton residents purchased nearly 6,200 rain barrels. If used to the maximum, those barrels have the potential to reduce water consumption by more than 1.2 million litres, according to Regional staff.
