Oakville defeated London 8-7 to improve to 2-0 on the Ontario Lacrosse Association junior B season. DANIEL PERRY/ SPECIAL TO THE OAKVILLE BEAVER Buzz opens OLA season with pair of victories The Oakville Buzz is off to a 2-0 start to the Ontario Lacrosse Association junior B season, posting victories over the Hamilton Bengals and London Blue Devils last weekend at Glen Abbey Recreation Centre. But Dylan Gilbert believes the team can play much better. "None of us played that well, except for our goalie," said the third-year forward, who notched the game-winning goal with 2:09 left in regulation in Oakville's 8-7 win over London Sunday. "We worked pretty hard out there, but really only buckled down for the last five minutes." The last five minutes were indeed when the Buzz turned Sunday's game around, scoring the final two goals of the game to overcome a 7-6 deficit. Oakville held the Blue Devils scoreless in the final 9:53 of the contest. "Our defence won the game tonight. They stepped up huge when it counted most," said Buzz goaltender Graeme Kirkness, who earned his second win in as many games. "If we play like we did in the last five minutes for the rest of the year, there are very few teams that will be able to stick with us, nevermind beat us." Bryan Cole paced the Buzz attack Sunday with two goals and two assists. Ryan Adams, Tyler Albrecht, Patrick Corbett, Jamie Elliott and Dan Lomas also found the net for Oakville. The Buzz did not need any thirdperiod heroics in its season opener Friday, blasting the Hamilton Bengals 11-5. Tied 3-3 after the first period, Oakville outscored Hamilton 5-2 in the second period and scored the only three goals of the final frame.
