New Oakville Hospital The New Oakville Hospital has just moved one step closer to reality. Following months of consultations, delegations and deliberations, Oakville Town Council approved a Local Share Request for the New Oakville Hospital. The financial commitment from the Town of Oakville is the last piece of the hospital's Local Share Plan which must be submitted to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care for approval before Halton Healthcare Services and Infrastructure Ontario can release the Request for Proposals (RFP). The RFP will be released to the pre-qualified bidders at the end of May 2010. The contract will be awarded to the successful bidder approximately one-year later followed by the start of construction. Our thanks to the residents of Oakville and to Mayor Burton and Members of the Oakville Town Council for their support. Their positive decision to support the local share plan has brought the New Oakville Hospital one step closer to reality. More information on the New Oakville Hospital project is available on-line at www.newoakvillehospital.com. On behalf of the staff at OTMH, the Oakville Hospital Foundation would like to thank the Shoppers Drug Mart's in Oakville for their support of OTMH through their annual Tree of Life Campaign. Oakville Shoppers Drug Mart locations raised more than $7,000 in 2009 through their Tree of Life Campaign for the purchase of essential medical equipment for our community hospital. Introduced in 2002, the annual Tree of Life campaign gives Shoppers Drug Mart and Shoppers Home Health Care customers and employees, the opportunity to make a difference to the communities in which they live and work. Participants make this difference by purchasing a leaf, a maple leaf or apple at their local Shoppers Drug Mart or Shoppers Home Health Care location and the funds raised are then directed toward identified local charities as well as a select list of national charities. The Oakville Hospital Foundation is honoured once again to have OTMH included on this list as it demonstrates Shoppers Drug Mart's commitment to our community hospital. Thank you for the health of our community.
