It will take place from 6-7:15 p.m. at the Oakville Central Branch Library, 120 Navy St., Second Floor, Program Room. The event is sponsored by the Oakville Riding Association for the PC Party of Ontario. The forum will be led by Lisa MacLeod, Nepean Carlton MPP and critic for Revenue and Accountability. MacLeod will speak about the upcoming July 1 transition from the current GST/PST taxation model to the HST in Ontario. There will be a presentation and question-and-answer session. The event will be followed by a PC Pub Night from 7:30 p.m. onward at O'Finn's Irish Temper located at Navy and Church streets. Halton MPP Ted Chudleigh will join Lisa MacLeod and riding association volunteers at the pub night and residents are invited to drop by and chat about issues of concern. Beaver editor speaks at OCCPHER meeting Oakville Beaver Managing Editor Rod Jerred will speak to the Oakville Community Centre for Peace, Ecology and Human Rights (OCCPEHR) annual general meeting on Monday, May 17. The meeting will be held in a committee room at Oakville Town Hall located at 1225 Trafalgar Rd. Jerred is a graduate from the Sheridan College Journalism program and has worked on newspapers in Oakville and Halton for more than 30 years. For the past 10 years, he has served as the managing editor for The Oakville Beaver. "Mr. Jerred is in a unique position to comment and reflect on our proposed topic of Activism in Oakville: Perceptions and Suggestions and he will make his address at 7:15 p.m.," said Mervyn Russell, OCCPEHR chair. The business portion of the meeting will follow at 8 p.m. It will include a review of the year's activities and appoint the organization's officers for the coming year.
