In recognition of International Museum Day, local historian John McDonald will give a free presentation Tuesday on `Halton County and the 1918 Influenza.' The presentation will start at 7 p.m. in the Hearth Room of the museum's Alexander Barn, and will be followed by refreshments. McDonald's presentation will provide an overview of the epidemic, review the role of government and doctors, explore the impact of the First World War and prohibition on the epidemic, take a look at public bans, medications and remedies and touch on some of the controversies and misconceptions that surfaced during the epidemic. Dr. Monir Taha, Halton Region's associate medical officer of health, will also be on hand to offer some thoughts on modern public health's take on influenza pandemics. The museum is located inside Kelso Conservation Area on Kelso Road. Evergreen donation INSTALL NOW & BEAT THE HST Sign up by June 1st & don't pay the HST We have tons of hot priced items!
