Book sale boosts literacy The Oakville Literacy Council is ready to fill your book bag for summer reading. Every year, the Oakville Literacy Council holds a used book sale at Hopedale Mall as a fundraiser. The 2009 sale raised $15,000 in support of the 85 local adults who had lessons with the council's volunteer tutors last year. This year's sale runs from tomorrow (Thursday) to Saturday (May 29). The sale will run during mall hours so it will operate Thursday and Friday, 9:30 a.m.-9 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m., Hopedale Mall is located at Rebecca Street/Third Line. There will be thousands of gently-used books on sale for $1 or $3. All the gently-used books are donated to the council by members of the community.
