Born August 23, 1925 in Winnipeg to Dorothy Heckels and Colonel Charles G. Bradshaw, Frankie was a proud Canadian whose maternal line could be traced back e i g h t g e n e r a t i o n s i n t h i s c o u n t r y. Always a loving and competent caregiver, Frances traveled to Toronto a n d g r a d u a t e d f r o m S t . M i c h a e l 's Hospital Nursing School in 1945, during which time she met and fell in love with Ronald Dickie. They married on August 16, 1947 and began a joyous life long partnership, which l a s t e d u n t i l R o n 's d e a t h i n 2 0 0 0 . Together they shared their lives with their 3 children: Paul (Lauren), Shelagh (Richard), and Blair (Maureen). A woman of style and individuality, Frankie enjoyed travel, swimming, skiing, bridge and square dancing. But her favorite role was that of Nana to her adored grandchildren Trevor, Connor, Laura, Alexandra and Cameron. She will be missed. George graduated from Queen's University as a geophysical engineer in 1954, and spent much of his working life with Texas Gulf Sulphur in Toronto, Cuba and Denver Colorado. In 1958 George was responsible for keeping himself and three other men alive for four days when their plane crashed in the "frozen desert" of Nunavut (then Baffin Island) on what is now known as Mount Podolsky.
