Pictured are, from left, Rev. Mike Marsden, Jean Kennedy, 42 years, Shena Chisholm, 36, Bill Duncan, 42, Peter Richardson, 22, Roma Browne, 50, Wilma McNiff, 34, Director of Music Thomas Shilcock and Rev. Jacqui Foxall. Seated is Bill Browne, 50. Absent from the photo is Trevor Thompson, 40. The medals each received depict musical symbols with inscriptions including the recipient's name and the number of years he or she has served. Do you think you and your team have what it takes to make people laugh in an improvisational show? If so, here's your chance to prove it at the Improv Idol, hosted by the Bad Dog Theatre Company Oakville. And, just as in the singing talent search TV show of a similar name, there will be a panel of judges, including one grumpy fellow, to critique the performances. Teams will be competing against each other for a spot at Bad Dog's regular all-ages, improv shows in Oakville. "Our dream is that someday we'll have enough people to have an ongoing family show so that we can keep people on stage and have a repertoire going and have a group that will keep playing against each other," said Amy McKenzie, spokesperson for Bad Dog. "And kids will have a place to come and play where they can do their professional development because improvising is always learning a craft and you can always be better." The talent search event will take place at Moonshine Cafe, where Bad Dog regularly stages its improv jams, on Sunday, June 27. However, because space is limited, teams are asked to register early to ensure a spot in the show. Participation is free. Bad Dog is looking for both adult and teen teams. Teams are asked to register by emailing Oakville@baddogtheatre.com and include team name, team members, phone and e-mail contact information and previous improv experience. Also teams must have at least two members and no more than five. For the audience, the show is pay what you can, but people should register for a seat at the same e-mail address. Bad Dog is a non-profit theatre company that formed in Toronto nearly three decades ago and has expanded into Oakville about a year ago where it provides improv classes. For more information, visit www.baddogtheatre.com. The Improv Idol show begins at 7 p.m. The café is located at 137 Kerr St.
