Russell won gold in the 15-17 girls' 200meter backstroke with a Canadian-record time of 2:10.8, bettering the time from 2001. Russell also added a bronze in the women's 100m backstroke with a time of 1:01.70. The three-city long-course meet continues with stops in Barcelona and Canet. Russell will be joined in Barcelona by teammates Lauren Dixon, Olivia Sbaraglia, Courtney Gregorian, Peter Kruzyk and Nick Armstrong. Colin Russell, also of the Dolphins, chose to pass on the Mare Nostrum competition in order to train for the Pan Pacific championships. Coaches are needed for both Iroquois Ridge's junior and senior squads for the 2010 fall season. The season runs from early September to mid November, and a commitment of at least three days per week is requested. Practices run 3:15-5 p.m. each day with games once a week.
