The honoured students are representative of exceptional qualities in at least two of the following areas: academic, vocational and athletic fields, self-improvement, community work, citizenship and leadership, or other specific criteria that reflects the school's unique priorities. This is the second installment profiling the Oakville public school students. The first installment was published in the Wednesday, June 9 edition. · Negar Kowsar, Oakwood, Grade 5: An enthusiastic Grade 5 student, Negar always strives to do her best academically and in extra curricular activities. She is highly involved and is an excellent role model for others. She shows positive leadership and is always interested in ways that she can grow as a learner. Evelyne Guay, Pilgrim Wood, Grade 8: This year her involvement includes concert band, student council, athletic council, cross country, the Walk to School committee, the school production, volleyball, basketball, all intramurals and student helpers. She has also made the school honour role each term and can always be counted on to assist in the ber of a local swim team. · Lauren Jamieson, Post's Corners, Grade 8: Lauren exemplifies the Olympic ideals. She strives for higher achievement in academics, the arts and athletics. She is a member of the volleyball and East Halton Champion basketball teams, involved in track and field and leads the intramural program. She's involved in the school rock band, Se7en, and a variety of arts activities, including her most recent performance in the school musical, On The Radio. · Riya Varman, River Oaks, Grade 8: As River Oak's Executive Leadership Club VicePresident, her dedication and commitment has led to successful school and community events like spirit days and talent shows. She is multitalented as demonstrated by her involvement in the school's concert band, skills competition team and the improv club. Her compassion and enthusiasm is her greatest strengths. Liv Nielsen, Sheridan, Grade 5: A conscientious student who achieves well both academically and artistically, Liv demonstrates a high level of participation in athletics and community service in the school. She is very kind and helpful toward her peers and receives feedback well, willingly implementing suggestions for improvement.
