New face aims for council seat in Ward 5 Sixteen-year Oakville resident Mark Straub is challenging incumbent Marc Grant for the position of Ward 5 Town councillor in the October municipal election. Straub also listed maintaining Ward 5's character, including its parks, natural paths, downtown area, arts community, sports facilities and neighborhoods, as a top priority. Straub also described transit as important, but said more needs to be done to get more people to ride it. "We need to engage automobile commuters to find out what will make them give up their automobile," he said. "Otherwise, the automobile will continue to be the only feasible option for commuters."
