Sara, an Oakville resident and graduate of Sara Carlin St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Secondary School, hanged herself in her parents' basement on Sunday, May 6, 2007. Since that time much has been made of the fact that Sara had been taking Paxil, an anti-depressant Health Canada has issued numerous advisories for because of the possible increased risk of suicidal events among the children and adolescents under 18 who take it. On Monday, a Coroner's inquest into Sara's death heard from Sara's family physician, Dr. Tom Stanton and psychotherapist Dr. Mary Alexander.
