The cyclists are expected to arrive at Lakeside Park in downtown Oakville, at the harbour, at 9 a.m. or shortly after. The GWTA is organized by the Waterfront Regeneration Trust to connect Ontarians to their waterfront and promote active living and environmental stewardship. "Oakville has more than 150 kilometres of beautiful walking and cycling trails, including a stretch of the Waterfront Trail that showcases some of Oakville's historically significant areas," said Mayor Rob Burton. "It's important to continue to preserve and protect public access to our waterfront, and events like the GWTA are great examples of how the lake shore can bring people together to be active outside." Residents can cheer on the cyclists of all ages as they travel through day two of their eight-day, 720 km journey along the Waterfront Trail from Niagara-on-the-Lake to Rivière Beaudette, Québec. For residents travelling by bike, Racer Sportif is offering minor bike repairs from 9-10:30 a.m. The town is offering free yoga in the park and Fiddlestix will give a free concert as part of the festivities. The Waterfront Trail runs through Oakville from Samuel Curtis Parkette at Lakeshore Road West east of Burloak Drive to Arkendo Park at Lakeshore Road East west of Winston Churchill Boulevard. Lakeside Park is located on 144 Front St. between Thomas and George Streets. For information, visit www.waterfronttrail.org.
