Canada defeated Australia 3-2 and China 1-0 to advance to the semifinals of the tournament and ensure itself a medal. Both those victories came in Canada's final at-bat, including a three-run rally in the final frame of the win over Australia. Canada then fell 12-3 to Japan in the semifinal, settling for bronze. The United States beat Japan 7-0 in the gold-medal game. Andreana, a graduate of T.A. Blakelock, saw action in a pair of games during the tournament. She pitched four shutout innings against South Africa during the roundrobin, then came in to pitch the final few innings of the blowout loss to the U.S. Canada went 6-1 in round robin play, allowing just five runs to finish second in its group, with its lone loss being a 2-1 decision to Japan. After a 16-1 loss to the U.S. in its first playoff game, Canada needed to win its next two to advance and did so in dramatic fashion. Tina Andreana
