11 · Friday, July 9, 2010 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.oakvillebeaver.com The big buzz PHOTOS BY NIKKI WESLEY FOR MOM: Oakville resident Jackie Barnett was diagnosed with breast cancer. At age 60, the idea of losing her hair didn't sit too well with her, but her family decided she most definitely was not on her own. There was no way the family would let Mom go through it all by herself, so, in an act of family solidarity, son Colin, left, daughter Lauren, herself a cancer survivor, (centre) and husband Bruce had their heads shaved. The deed was done on July 3 at a barbecue at the Barnett's southwest Oakville home. Afterward, the Barnetts posed for an updated family portrait in which they all sported their new, hairstyles -- a buzz cut. They also raised $3,100 in support of fighting breast cancer.
