www.oakvillebeaver.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Friday, July 16, 2010 · 4 Cyclist hit by car A 46-year-old Oakville man is in hospital with severe head injuries after being struck by a car Wednesday afternoon while cycling along Dundas Street, just east of Tremaine Road. Police said the man was cycling eastbound on Dundas Street at around 5:30 p.m. when a Toyota Corolla, driven by a 39-yearold Burlington woman, pulled to the left in an effort to manoeuvre around him. In making this move, the Toyota struck another vehicle, driven by a 46-year-old Oakville woman, which in turn lost control and struck the cyclist. The cyclist was transported to Hamilton General Hospital where he is listed in critical condition. Police are not releasing the man's name at this time. No one else was injured during the incident and police have not laid any charges. Police said speed and alcohol were not factors in this accident. The eastbound lanes of Dundas Street were closed for three-and-a-half hours as a result of the accident. The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate this collision and witnesses are being asked to call 905-825-4747, ext. 5189 or ext. 5245.
