Two charities win big The second annual Mayor's Invitational Tournament on July 15 raised nearly $100,000 for Community Living Oakville (CLO) and Kerr Street Ministries (KSM). The Town of Oakville played Rosehaven Homes in the championship game. The Town of Oakville was down two runs entering the final inning and completed its comeback with a 7-6 victory. This year's event also included Michael `Pinball' Clemons as the host of the awards presentations. The day-long, round-robin softball tournament was held at two Oakville parks -- Glenashton and Trafalgar. More than 200 people were involved, including umpires and staff from the Oakville Girls Softball Association, 12 corporate teams that competed against one another, numerous volunteers and Town staff. The 12 teams were from the following organizations: LiUNA, Starlane Homes, Rosehaven Homes, EllisDon, Ian Martin, Kruger Products, Longo's, Managerial Design, Oakville Hydro, Carta, Scotiabank and the Town of Oakville. With their entry fee, all teams played a minimum of three games and received complimentary breakfast, lunch, dinner, refreshments and a team photo.
