Coming off an unusually dry winter and with summer now here, the Region's blue-yellowred system is designed to regulate outdoor water use so there's always enough of the wet stuff for essential and emergency services like firefighting. The program establishes three levels of outdoor water use based on criteria such as water demand, water treatment reservoir levels, groundwater aquifer levels and weather patterns. The three levels include: Blue -- Careful Use: Voluntary odd/even lawn watering between 6-9 a.m. and 6-9 p.m. on days that correspond with your house number -- if your house address starts with an odd number, water on any oddnumbered calendar day and similarly for even-numbered addresses. Car washing and watering of trees, shrubs and gardens is allowed on those days. Yellow -- Limited Use: Mandatory odd/even lawn watering between 6-9 a.m. and 6-9 p.m. on days that correspond with your house number. Watering of trees, shrubs and gardens should be done using a hand held device such as a watering can. Red -- Stop Use: No outdoor lawn watering or car washing is permitted in order to conserve water for emergency and essential services.
