Blakelock grad Tina Andreana earned her first pitching victory for the Canadian national women's softball team last weekend in Oklahoma City. Andreana tossed three scoreless innings against the U.S. Futures team Saturday at the World Cup of softball, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out one. Canada overcame a 4-0 deficit in the last two innings, including three-run rally in the final frame, to prevail 5-4. The win was Canada's first in four games at the World Cup of Softball. Later in the tournament, Canada snapped the American top team's 22-game tournament winning streak. The tournament will be held at Rattlesnake Point Golf Club on Friday, Sept. 24. Registration at the club will begin at 7:30 a.m., the tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., and the event will conclude with a luncheon at 2:30 p.m. Former LPGA great and Oakville Sports Hall of Famer Sandra Post will be on hand to welcome new and repeat participants to the event. Singles or teams will be accommodated at last year's rate of $250 per person or $900 per foursome, which includes green fees, golf cart, continental breakfast and luncheon. For those wishing to attend the luncheon only, tickets may be purchased separately at $75 per person. Proceeds from the annual fundraiser are in support of the Oakville Sports Hall of Fame (OSHOF) and its Athlete Scholarship & Assistance Program. The Oakville Sports Hall of Fame is a volunteer, not-for-profit organization dedicated to honouring Oakville's hometown heroes and raising funds to encourage the continued development of Oakville's future sports stars.
