The second annual Low Key Music Festival, in support of the ErinoakKids Centre for Treatment and Development, will take place in Karlovac Park in Milton on Saturday, Aug. 14. The event will raise money for the centre's programs. ErinoakKids serves approximately 9,000 children with disabilities annually, including children with physical and/or developmental disabilities, children with autism, children who are blind or deaf, and children with communication disorders. It serves children in Halton, Peel and Dufferin regions, with additional programs in Waterloo and Wellington regions. "All of these amazing bands are excited to rock out to raise money in support of an organization that strives to improve the health and well being of thousands of children with disabilities," stated Anissa Hilborn, president of the ErinoakKids Foundation, in a press release. The event will feature The Flatliners, Rebel Emergency, The Black Lungs, The Junction, Songs From A Room, Polarity, No Right Turns, The Canned Goods and "All of these amazing bands are excited to rock out and raise money in support of an organization that strives to improve the health and well being of thousands of children with disabilities." The band's debut single will be available this month. Rock duo releases debut single Two Oakville youths have teamed up to make a musical duo and now the fruit of their labour is going electric. The alternative electro band The Dirty Tees is releasing its debut single, Where We Are, exclusively on the iTunes online music store. It will be available on Aug. 30. The band consists of Ryan Freeman and Grant Peters, who went to high school together and now both attend the University of Western Ontario. The duo collectively play guitar, bass, drums, piano and do vocals. ErinoakKids own alumni band, Superfire. Superfire formed in 2007 as part of the centre's music therapy program and continues as a working band of former ErinoakKids clients. The festival was founded to help raise money for the organization. "We wanted to help more children," said Anthony Hajsan, one of the organizers, whose cousin attends the centre, in the release. "I play in a band, and know people in many others. We got the idea and started it last year. It snowballed from there." There will be a barbecue and a beer garden. Karlovac Park is located at 1860 Thompson Rd. in Milton. The event runs from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Admission costs $5 and parking is free.
