- Description
- Text on back reads: "Dr.Webster's home, 1925.
In the foreground are Doris and Connie Greenwood, daughters of Leonard Greenwood, manager of the Bank of Nova Scotia, situated on the south east of the main corner. The gingerbread on the house, the wide open porch, a sun room upstairs, and a back kitchen had all been added over the years. The windmill at the well had been taken down, electric lights came in about 1919, a smart touring car replaced the faithful drivers' in the stable, and the stable became the Carriage House'. Much later, when Prairie sold her home in the 1960s she lived for a time in that same Carriage House, remodelled to rent. The gardens were always beautiful, the rose arbour at the front door was a stopping place for many including L.M. Montgomery who was a frequent visitor in that gracious and hospitable old home. - Notes
