Ground limestone i.^, put on on3 set of plots at the rate of 2 tons an ai-ce, jusr before seeding the oat crop, in a rot- ation of corn, oats, clover, timothy. Manure is applied to the land pre- vious to ploughing for corn at the rate of sixteen tons per acre. Another set of plots are treated in the same way in every respect, except that limestore is not anplied. This ex- periment is carried on in duplicate, and accurate records have been kept in connection therewith, for the five year period. In every instance there has been a decided increase in the yield on the plots tijatcJ with lime. Corn has given a five year average increase in yield of 2.37 ton.i per acre. The yield of the oats has been 12.2 bush- els per acre higher on the limed plot. The increase in yield of clover is 0.54 of a ton, while timothy has yield- ed 0.68 of a ton more per acre.
