He can walk a short distance on it now. Saturday was Santa Claus Day in Dundalk. A very large crowd was present to see the jolly old fellow. War.eham Day school and Sunday school have combined forces and are putting on theij; Christmas concert in the church on Dec. 20. Mr. Luther Love shot a fine large white owl one day recently. It meas- ured foui- feet nine inches from tip to tip. Mr. Joe Little and Elmore Fisher spent Sunday at Mr. Gilbert Little's. The Mt. Zion Woman's Association held their annual meeting on Dec- ember 10th at the home of Mrs. Flor- ence Lyons. The pastor. Rev. Bush- ell presided. The meeting was open- ed by singing the hymn "Work for the night is coming." followed by repeating the 23 psalm in unison. Tfie president gave a short rei)ort of the work, the secretary gave a report of the work done by the association for the year. The treasurer, Mrs. Mel- drum gave a report of the receipts and expenses of the year, the association has raised $135.00 in the past year. Death came as a distinct shock to thu many friends and relatives of Mrs. Frederick Wilson when it be- .•ame known she had passed away at her home in Toronto, on Saturday, -November 30. Deceased, whose maiden name was Julia Ann Catherine Meads, was a daughter of the late Ellen Griffin and John Meads, and was born 74 years ago at Hamilton. When just 3 years old she moved with her parents to Grey County ,to the farm now oc- cupied by Mr. William Meads. Jr. O. D. Rd.. She attended the D. Rd. school, later going to Toronto where she met her late husband and they were married 51 years ago. To them were born seven children, the two younger dying when quite small Surviving to mourn the loss of a de- voted mother are: William, Edith. (Mrs Brooks), Frederick and Thomas, all of Toronto and Julia (Mrs. Cal- way) Detroit, also one sister, Annie ( Mrs. Joseph Oliver) and one brother. Mr. Will Meads Sr., both of the O.D, Rd. Another sister. Maggie (Mrs. Ferris) predeceased her some few years ago. Mr. Wilson died only three years ago. The late Mrs. Wilson had been in failing health for several years be- ing completely invalided the last two years, but bore her suffering with heroic fortitude. She was a member of St. Anne's Anglican church, the rector had charge of the funeral. Tuesday last, interment taking place in the family plot. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Oliver and Mr. Will Meads, Jr. attended the funeral. The sympathy of the community is extended the ber- eaved ones in their sorrow. NEEDED "I say. Ritchie was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Herb Betts one evening last week. The ladies aid held a social in the church. Thui-sday night, when only a fair sized cowd wrs r»esent. A programme of readings, songs, re citations and dialogues was enjoyed after which a bountiful lunch was serve<i by the ladies. Rev. Mr. Wol- stencroft acted ja chairman for the evening. Mr. John Ottwell is busy buzzing wood for some of the farmers in this locality. Mr. Ned Croft has taken a contract cutting logs for the Durham Furni- •^ure Co. and started work with his men Tuesday. Home Ut- ilisation of wool came to an end on Friday 13th, although the member- ship was small no one who commen ced the class missed a day. Maxwell W. L was the only one to secure this class in Grey County, this year.
