BUY BABY CHICKS IN NEXT FEW WEEKS Live Stock Report Monday's cattle market displayed con.tiderable activity and prices ad- vanced a .strong quarter on all classes but heavy steers. Tht^ best demand was shown for choice handy weight butcher cattle, heifei-s and cows. Best heavy steers sold at from $8.00 to $8.50; fair to good from $7.50 to $8.00; common to medium $6.00 to $7.00. In the butcher section, choice butcher cattle were in strong demand at from $7.00 to $7.50; fair to good from $6.50 to $7.00; common to med. ium $5.50 to $6.25. Choice baby â- beeves brought from $7.50 to $8.00, others lower, according to quality. Stockers and feeders were in strong demand, choice light kind from $4.75 to $5.50 and feeders from $5.75 to $6.25. Tlhe cow trade was active, choice heifery cows from $5.00 to $5.- 60; fair to good from $4.50 to $5.00; common to medium $3.25 to $4.00; canners and cutters $2.00 to $2.65. Choice light butcher bulls sold readily at from $4.75 to $5.26; heavy bulls from $4.25 to $4.50; bolognas from $3.75 to $4.25. Lambs featured the market, ad- vancing to a new high of lie. The offering was made up largely of Western feed lot shipments, besides a good assortment of Ontario lambs. Choice light sheep . made from $6.00 to S6.50. The calf market was active and strong, choice calves from $9.00 to $9.50, with a few tops at lf)c: fair to good from $7.50 to S8"5; common to medium $5.00 to $6.50. .Supplies of hogs were hiavy and packers were bidding a quarter lower, sales being made on the basis of $8.00 to $8.75 for truck deliveries, and the prospects for the balance of the week are that prices will be steady.
