Miss Naomi Lipsett of Owen Sound spent the latter part of the week with Mrs. Anna McMillan. The Women's Institute met for their July meeting on Thursday even- ing at the home of MA. Anna Mc- Millan, with an attendance of six members and nine visitors. The president, Mrs. Cameron Smellie, oc- cupied the chair. The guest speaker of the evening was Mrs. Margaret McGregor, who is visiting her niece. Miss Agnes Macphail, M.P. Mrs. McGregor has spent the lasrt two years in Europe and the British isles and gave a very vivid and educational account of her travels and sojourn there. Mrs. Kennedy won the prize in M^:. Mathewson's contest, and Mrs. aiilvile Hogarth was welcomed as a member. The meeting closed with the singing of the Ode and the Mizpah benediction, after which lunch wa enjoyed. Export demand was lacking on heavy steers^ and only a few of the extra choie* kind made satisfactory prices. Top weighty steers ranged from '/ to 7.50, fair to good from 6.25 to 7.00. In the butcher section choice handy- weight steers and heifers were from 10 to 15 cents higher, selling from 8.25 to 6.50; fair to good from 5.50 to (i.OO, common to medium 4.50 to 5.25. Choice baby beeves brought from 8.00 to 9.00, others downward to 6.60. Stockers and feeders were slow of sale and a quarter lower, choice light kind 4.25 to 4.75, feedei-s of Heavier weights 5.00 to 5.25. The cow trade held steady, choice light heifery cows 4.75 to 5.00, choice fat cows 4.00 to 4.50, fair to good 3.25 to 4.00, canners and cutters 2.50 to 3.00. The bull trade was steady, choice 4.50, heavy bolognas 4.00 to 4.25, common light kind 3.50 to 3.75. Choice ewe lambs sold at 9.50, and best butcher sheep 3.50 to 4.00. Calves were in good demand, choice from 8.00 to 8.50, fair to good 7.00 to 8.00, common to medium 5.50 to 6.60, grass calves 4.25 to 4.50.
