Mrs. Will Gibson is home after spending two weeks in Toronto. The Ladies' Aid held their Decem- ber meeting and election of officers at the home of Mrs. A. C. Muir on Thursday afternoon. SWINTON PARK Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Hood and babe of Hopeville spent Sunday at the home of Mr. Hugh McMillan. Mrs. Geo. Haw returned home Fri- day, having spent the past two weeks with her daughters in Mt. Forest. Miss Jean McCormick, Reg.N., of the military hospital, Toronto, spent a couple of days at her parental home. Bom â€" On Sunday, Dec. 17th, to Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Ostrander, a daughter. The Ladies' Aid met in the church on Friday for their annual meeting. A splendid crowd was present for the election of officers for 1940, which resulted as follows: President, Mrs. Walter Knox; Vice-Pres., Mrs. G. A. Black; Sec, Mrs. R. S. Hardy; Treas., Mrs. J. A. Martin; At the close of the meeting the ladies presented Mrs. John Corbett with a lovely quilt as a Christmas gift to her daughter, who has been bedfast for nearly a year. A short address was read by Mrs. Walter Knox and Mrs. R. S. Hardy presented the quilt. Mrs. Corbett thanked the ladies for theii- kindness, now and in the past, to Elva. Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Tresidder and family of Toronto spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Hardy. A very impressive service was held on Sunday when Messrs. Neil Clark and Chas. Haw were ordained as new Elders in the church. Seven new members also united with the church: Mr. and Mrs. John Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Haw, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar McLeod and Jas. Haw. Com- munion service was conducted at the close. This also was Mr. Taylor's farewell. He has taken the charge of Ethel and Cvanbrook in the Mait- land Presbytery. Mrs. John Lane is spending a few da.ys with her brother Will, of Egre- mont, whose wife, the late Mrs. Will Reid, passed away. The funeral will take place on Tuesday. Mrs. Wm. Stewart is holidaying with friends in Toronto this week. Mr. Bert Martin has treated himself and family to a Dodge car. Killing fowl will be the order of the day for a few days on our line. Sunday visitors at the home of Robt. Osborne were Mr. and Mrs. W. Russel, Rock Mills, Mr. Henderson and John Osborne from Fiesherton. Mr. Mac Cudmore, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Badgerow and Inez and Mrs. Wm. Osborne and Walter, who remained for a few days visit. They left for their home in Idaho on Monday Dec. 18th, after spending a month and a half with friends between Owen Sound and CoUingwood. This community was shocked to hear of the terrible accident which be- fell Mr. Claude Cunningham last Tuesday when he was badly scalded. He is an employee in the canning fact- ory at CoUingwood. The best wishes of this community are extended to Claude for a quick and complete re- covery. The Mount Zion W^ A. met at the home of Mrs. Laurie Pedlar on Dec. 12 with 12 members present. This being the annual meeting of the W. A. The different reports were read and after the business of the meeting was over, Dr. Mercer took charge for the election of officers for the year 1940. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Plantt. The word for devotional roll is "Bount- iful." The 'W. A. had a very successtul year. They had nice balance on hand after paying the balance of the minister's salary for 1939. Mrs. Pedlar held a ten cent tea in in the evening in connection with the W. A. when a goodly number were present and a very enjoyable evening was had by all. A number of articles were sold. FEVERSHAM We are sorry to report the death of Mr. Dave Roberts on Monday, Dec. 18. Miss Winnifred McMullen of To- ronto is visiting at her home over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Fawcett are hav- ing a sale on Thursday of this week, and are moving into Miss Mae White- oak's residence in the village. Mr- Billy Burk of Thornbury spent the week end at his parental home. Mr. J. W. Robinson has moved into his new store and residence. Mr. Chris. Thom-son is visiting with his brother John, at Agincourt. A large crowd attended the opening dance at the J. W. Robinson dance hall here. The Blue Marines orches- tra supplied the music Prizes were given for a balloon dance and lucky number and Mr. Ashley Kellough of Owen Sound and J. .\.
