Ted Weber are home at present at their parental homes. Friday evening the many friends of Pte. Chas. Shilvoloch gathered at the C. M. hall and preeented him with a ring, money belt, writing ease and an identification bracelet, He thanked all in » short speech. The evening was spent in games. Two carloads of laaies attended the W. I. District Convention. Miss Arlie Kirkpatrick is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. J. Kirkpatrick. Miss Leota Gilbert is holidaying with Kimberley friends, Mr., and Mrs. R. Phillips and John of Flesherton visited with Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Graham on Sunday. L,A.C. Jack Graham, R.C.A.F., re- turned this week to the Blast Coast, after spending a leave at h.s home. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Hoggard visit- ed Mr. and Mrs. H. Lawrence on Sunday. Mr. Bert McAfee and mother vis- ited Mr. Laveme Morwood, Sunday. EUGENIA VICTORIA CORNERS (Intended for Last Week) MisB Bemelda Rear, Clarksburg, visited last week with her friend Miss Laurene Talbot. Miss Ina Acheson spent Saturday at Owen Sound. Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Acheson, were Mr. and Mrs. Sam Saunders and little son Robert, Berkeley, Mr. and Mrs. George Moore and infant son Garry. Mrs. Edith Hall and little daughter, Donna, were week end visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Russell Linton and family. A successful W. A. meeting was held on Thursday afternoon, June 8 at the home of Mrs. Leo Blakey. Monday callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Moore, were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Clarke, Markdale. She return- ed Monday evening to Toronto, motoring, accompanied by her father and Mr. Chas. Martin. Miss Muriel Cacruthers has re- turned to the home of her sister Mrs. C. L. Park, after spending the past week in Toronto. Tpr. George Stewart of Camp Borden, spent the week end at his parental home here. Miss Millie McMullen, Toronto, spent the week end with her mother here. Mr. Thos. Stewart, Toronto, visited over the week end with his wife and family here. Miss Marge Park, Flesherton, visited over the week end with Mrs. C. D. Park and Gwen. Mrs. Don Carson and Donnie are visiting this week in Toronto. The Eugenia Red Cross will meet at the home of Mrs. E. Proctor, on Wednesday, June 28th. Mr. Westcott gave a splendid sermon on Sunday evening last, based on the "Invasion of Europe." Mrs. J. Cairns and Mrs. C. Martin attended the Sunday School Convent- ion held at Vandfeleur on Thursday. They were present for the evening session and enjoyed' the addresses given by Rev. Geo. Morrison near Barrie and Rev. Cox, of Priceville al- so the devotional period by Rev. Westcott, Flesherton, and the solo by Melville Buchanan. Next year the convention will be at Eugenia. Pte. DeHbert Magee and friend of the Dental Corps, Peterboro, spent the week end with the former's par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Magee. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Burtin have re- turned to Toronto, after spending a couple of weeks at the Proctor homes. Mr. Art Proctor sipent a couple of days in Toronto last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ediwim Purvis of Toronto, accompanied by Flying Ofificer Fraser Lorimei^, of the R.C. A.F. Manning Depot, Toronto, and wife spent the week end at the for- mer's cottage here. We are pleased to see Mr. Alex Cameron aible to be out again after his proloniged illness. Misses Marge Martin, Blanche Walker, and Marie Phillips are home from High School having, passed on their year's work. Miss Muriel Carruthers is sfpending a few days in Toronto. Miss Mary Mills, oif the Bank of Toronto staff is having two weeks holidays. Mrs. Ella Hyslop, oif e staff at Markdale is releiving for her. • Miss LaVerna Smith, Kincardine, visited over the week end at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Smith. Mrs, G. Bby returned from Owen Sound, after spending a few days with her daughter, Mrs. T. Forsythe. Miss Marion Bby is soending this week in Owen Sound. Word was received Monday, that Lieut. Harold Mills, brother of Miss Mary Mills, has been reported miss- ing. We hope further word comes of his safety. Mrs. Jas. Long spent the week end with her daughter, Mrs. Harry Montgomery, Dundalk. VANDELEUR A very enjoyable social was held in the church, Friday evening, of last week, under the auspices of the Woman's Association. The pastor, Rev. N. Caswell, acted as chairman. The feature of the program was an impromptu debate on the subject: re- solved "that the world is getting better." The affirmative was upheld by Howard Graham and Melville Buchanan, and Mrs. (Rev.) Caswell, nnd Mrs. Frank Davis supiported the negative. There were no judges, but both sides were given a hearty ap- plause for the arguments they pre- sented. Another interesting feature of the program, was the presentatioa oi a beautiful mirror to our teacher. Miss Dawn. Mrs. Frank Davig read the address. Other numlMrs were: music by the Boiwles family, solos by H. MoGee and M. Buchanan, duet by Bobby Simpson and Jo«* Cargoe. Piano solo by Frances Buchanan. Mouth organ muiiie and a recitation by H. Nickles, Markdale High School staff gave a splendid address in the church on Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Cargoe and daughters, Coliborne, Mrs. Davidson and Miss Florence Davis, Owen Sound were week end visitors with the Buchanan, Johnston and Davis families. Reeve H. Down and Mrs. Down Euphrasia were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lujidy Johnston. A good program is being arranged and everyone is cordially invited. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Graham and Ruth, Mrs. Ethel Hutchinson and Miss M.
