- A fatal accident happened to Mr. Wm. Finlay, lot 20, con. 3, Laitlier, on Thursday last. Mr. Finlay was driving near Barrie, with his son-in-law, Mr. Bell, when one of the hold-back straps gave way, and the latter sprang out to fix it. In doing so his foot caught in the lines, tripping him and starting the horse at full speed. Mr. Finlay, becoming frightened, jumped out, and fell on his head, breaking his skull, and killing him instantly. Mr. Finlay's remains were taken to Luther to be interred. He was an old settler, and much respected by all who knew him. The sad accident has cast a gloom over the entire neighborhood.
