- Drowned in Erin.
Two sons, aged 12 and 14 years, of John Leeson, of lot 11, 5th concession of Erin, were drowned on Sunday afternoon in a pond on their father's farm. The pond was formed in a hollow and filled with water by the recent thaw, and, having been frozen over on Saturday night, the little fellow ran out after dinner to have a slide. Another lad with them had a very narrow escape, and he also broke through, but contrived to hold on to the ice until rescued. When they broke through the alarm was given, but so much time had elapsed before the bodies were recovered that resuscitation was impossible. - Featured Link
