Sad Death of a Fine Young Man.
On Wednesday evening of last week a very sad accident occurred in Nassagaweya, by which Mr. Robert Elliott, a young farmer of that township, twenty-eight years of age, and living at home with his father, Mr. George Elliott, met with instant death. The unfortunate young man and his brother George went out coon hunting in a bush near the farm. They had treed a coon, and went to work to cut the tree down. Robert took the first turn, and after he had chopped his half, he sat off to the side holding the dog between his knees, while his brother finished the cutting. Before felling the tree, the brother gave warning and the answer came, "all right." But it so happened that in the fall the tree struck a small sapling which turned it from its course, and caused it to strike the young man on the head killing him in an instant. The body was at once removed home, and the grief of his parents and friends can well be imagined. The deceased was well and favorably known and much sympathy is felt and expressed for the bereaved family in this sudden affliction.- Featured Link
