Death of a Former Haltonian.
The following from the Strathroy Age refers to the father of our townsman Mr. Thomas Statham, who was for many years a resident of Georgetown:- Many of our readers will learn with regret of the death on Friday last, at the residence of his son Titus, Front st, of Mr. Enoch Statham, a highly esteemed resident of our town, in the 75th year of his age. The old gentleman had been failing for some time although able to be around up to a week or so ago, the immediate cause of death being a general breaking down of his constitution. Deceased was known as one of the most expert machinists of his time, and was the inventor of several labor-saving machines. He was an ardent supporter of the Conservative cause and possessed the courage of his convictions. The funeral on Sunday was largely attended evidencing the esteem in which he was held. The service at house and grave was conducted by Rev. L. DesBrisay, Rector of St. John's Church.
