Death of an Old Resident.
The death of John Gamble, of lot 1, Con. 2, Erin, about two miles above Acton, occurred rather suddenly last Wednesday evening from some internal affection. Mr. Gamble was one of the farmers who settled here some thirty-four years ago and has always enjoyed the respect of the neighborhood. He was born in County Tyrone, Ireland, in 1822, and when about twenty years of age he came to Canada and settled at Georgetown. There he remained for fourteen years when he came to Acton and settled on the farm where he died. A family of four sons and two daughters survive him. The funeral on Friday was attended by many friends and neighbors. Rev. Mr. Hart conducted the funeral service in the church across the road from Mr. Gamble's farm and took for his text: Phil. 1:21 "To die is Gain." The remains were interred at Georgetown.
