After a lingering and most painful illness of some weeks duration, John, son of Mr. William Watson, died on Friday last. He was in the very morning of life, and with every prospect of a long and happy life, yet the Grim Reaper spared not. Known and loved by a host of friends he will be missed everywhere. He was active in all the sports of our boys, and none will feel his loss more bitterly than our Lacrosse Club, not so much for his intrinsic worth with the stick alone, but also for his unfailing geniality and light heartedness. Numbers of the XX Batt., the Band and Lacrosse Club attended the funeral on Sunday which was perhaps the largest our town has ever witnessed. We extend to the family our sincerest sympathy.
