Sad Fatal Accident.
A deplorable accident occurred in Hamilton on Saturday evening by which Miss Sophia Graham, about 73 years of age, whose residence was 42 James street north, met with terrible inhjuries, soon followed by death. Miss Graham had been visiting friends on Victoria avenue, who were ill, and was returning homeward between 7 and 8 o'clock along Robert street. Just as she stepped upon the N. & N. W. track, which crosses that street, the Beach train dashed around the curve beneath Barton street bridge, and the engine struck Miss Graham throwing her off the track. She was barely conscious for a short time, but was able to tell her name and street. They removed her to the hospital in the ambulance as quickly as possible, and every attention was paid to her. The skull was fractured at the back, her shoulder was crushed and several ribs broken. Death came about nine o'clock. Miss Isabella Graham, deceased's sister, and their two nieces, arrived just as she breathed her last. Deceased was a member of Knox church and was much beloved for her kindness and Christian bearing. Miss Graham was a sister of Mrs. C. T. Hill and Mrs. James Matthews, Acton, and frequently visited her friends here. The funeral took place to the family plot at Streetsville on Tuesday.
