Death of Thomas Williams, Esq.
After a long life, well spent, Thomas Williams, father of William Williams, of Acton, entered into rest on Monday, May 21st, at the home of his son, Edwin, at Evansville, Manitoulin Island, where he had gone some time previously on a visit. Mr. Williams was well-known in Acton, and spent the whole of last summer with his son here, leaving to visit other friends in September. Deceased was a native of Cornwall, England, and came to Canada with his wife and small family in 1852. He first settled in Cobourg and some four years later removed back of Bowmanville to Tyrone, where he spent the remainder of his life. His wife predeceased him some thirty-five years ago. Their family comprised six sons and four daughters, three of whom have died, and the remaining ones are widely scattered. Mr. Williams was an esteemed resident of Tyrone and made many friends wherever he went. He was for many years a consistent Christian and member of the Methodist Church.
