On Wednesday morning, 28th inst., John Stewart, aged three score and ten, died after a week's sickness. A week ago to day he was at his post in the paper mills, where he has worked for the past 30 years, and was the oldest employee in that institution. Mr. Stewart was born in Paisley, Scotland, in the year 1830. At fifteen he came to Canada and for fifteen years was in the employ of Howe Bros. at Hillsburg. Later he came to Georgetown, which has since been his home. Deceased was twice married, namely in 1853 and 1862. He had two sons, Robert Stewart, of Chippewa city, Wisconsin, and Adam A. Stewart, of Acton; a step-son, Rev. S. A. Dean, of Flint, Michigan, and an adopted daughter, Mrs. Hart, of Toronto. Mr. Dean arrived from Michigan this morning an hour after the deceased had passed away. Mr. Stewart was a man whose whole life was an exemplification of dilligence and honor. He was much loved by his family and as a citizen no man had aught against him. In religion he was a Methodist and was faithful in attendance upon the services of that church. To Mrs. Stewart and all the bereaved the hand of sympathy is extended. - Georgetown Herald. - Featured Link
