Death of Mrs. Robert Flanagan.
The sad news of the death at her home in Lowell, Mich., of Mrs. Robert J. Flanagan, nee Miss Hattie A. Lasby, reached the friends here on the 14th inst., and Mr. Joseph Lasby, who was over to the funeral, brought particuilars of her death upon his return last Friday. Mrs. Flanagan was ill only a week with pneumonia and died on Wednesday, 14th inst. Mrs. Flanagan was a daughter of the late Oliver Lasby, sr., and was born at Acton on April 17th, 1854. On Dec. 22nd, 1875, she married Mr. Flanagan. They settled in Lowell, Mich., in 1882, and here Mr. Flanagan has built up a large and successful manufacturing business. Mrs. Flanagan was the mother of two children, Charles, who died ten years ago at the age of 11, and Irma, aged eight years, who survives with her father. The Lowell Journal says: "During her residence among us Mrs. Flanagan has endeared herself to many by her admirable traits of character. Modest and retiring she was not one to be a leader, but her native charity in thought, speech and action has been the key of her character. Loving and domestic her home has been her kingdom and in her home she found her greatest happiness." The funeral was held from the home on Saturday afternoon and was attended by a large concourse of sympathizing friends. The Rev. S. T. Morris, conducted the funeral and preched a very edifying and comforting sermon, paying at its close an eloquent and deserved tribute to the deceased."
