SCOTCH BLOCK
This community lost last Friday one of the last of the early settlers of the Scotch Block in the person of John Turner. Mr. Turner was ill only a few days, death resulting from heart failure and a general breaking up of the system. He had reached the good old age of eighty years.
Mr. Turner was from his early boyhood days a resident of Esquesing. He was born in Toronto and came to lot 12, con. 3, when but a lad with his parents. His father died on the farm where he himself lived for so many years. Mrs. Turner pre-deceased him a number of years ago. Two sons and two daughers survive. Nathan and Maggie on the hoemstead, Malcolm E. on the adjoining farm and a daughter, Mrs. Hugh Fraser at Boissevain, Man. Deceased was a highly esteemed resident of this section. He was from his boyhood a member of Boston Presbyterian Church, was a member of the Building Committee and for years on the Board of Managers. He was the first postmaster of Scotch Block. In politics Mr. Turner was a well known Liberal.
The funeral on Monday was held to Evergreen Cemetery, Milton and was largely attended.
