- Death of Mrs. William Carroll
The death occurred on Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jennie Smith, Main Street, of Mrs. Wm. Carroll, one of our best loved old lady residents. Mrs. Carroll suffered from a severe attack of pneumonia in May which left her heart very weak. She has not been strong since and three weeks ago she was again confined to bed with serious heart affection. After distressing suffering for a week her spirit quietly took its flight on Tuesday morning. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Jane Robinson, daughter of the late Robert Robinson, and she was born in County Armagh, Ireland, on September 4th, 1842. She came to Canada with her parents when two years old, and the family settled at Omagh in Trafalgar Township. She married the late William Carroll in 1861, and he predeceased her on November 17th, 1905. Four children, Mrs. Jennie Smith, Acton; Mrs. Wm. Jeans, Gloversville, N.Y.; Robert and Walter, of Toronto, survive her, all of whom were at her bedside in her last illness and at the hour of her death. Mrs. Carroll was a godly woman, a tender and affectionate mother, and a sincere Christian. She was a member of the Methodist Church, Acton, for about thirty years and had serviced God faithfully from childhood. She was one of the most regular attendants at the house of God. In her illness she was most patient and thoughtful for the comfort of all concerned. The funeral will be held this afternoon at three o'clock to Fairview Cemetery. - Featured Link
