The Late Elijah Devereux
The death took place on Tuesday of one of Guelph's most respected residents, in the person of Mr. Elijah Devereux in his 69th year. Some months ago he met with an accident, being struck with an automobile, and since that time he has been ailing. The late Mr. Devereux was in business here for 42 years, being a well-known horseman, retiring from active life about five years ago. He was born at Georgetown in 1842, and moved to Guelph when a young man. He was married to Miss Annie Ruddel, of Georgetown, who, with four children survive the latter, William, of Guelph, Joseph, of Montreal, Jean at home and Charles, of Toronto. The funeral took place on Thursday afternoon to the Union Cemetery. Rev. J. D. Fitzpatrick officiating. - Guelph Mercury.
Mr. Devereux was well acquainted in Acton and throughout Esquesing.
