OBITUARY
WALTER G. DEVEREAUX
One of Esquesing's leading farmers died very suddenly at his home, lot 18, seventh line, last Thursday night. Mr. Devereaux had been in poor health the past year, and was subject to attacks of neuralgia of the heart, which ailment was the cause of his demise. He was in Acton during the Fall Fair, and visited his brother-in-law, Mr. William Brown, and was in Georgetown on the Tuesday previous to his death. Mr. Devereaux was the son of the late Elijah Devereaux, Sr., and was born on the farm where he died. On September 26th, 1883, he was married to Mary, daughter of the late James Brown, Esquesing. Four children were born to them. Mrs. Devereaux and Elsie, Laura and John survive. They all reside at the home. Mr. Devereaux was a highly esteemed man. He was an adherent at the Methodist Church, Georgetown. The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon. Rev. S. M. Roadhouse officiated. The poll bearers were four brother-in-law, Messrs. James and William Brown, Acton, John and Robert Brown, Esquesing, and his brother and nephew, Allan and Henry Devereaux. Interment took place at Greenwood Cemetery, Georgetown.
