- Oakville then returned to Halifax and underwent a period of "working-up" exercises at Bermuda after the Galveston refit. On 16th July 1944 she returned to duty with the WLEF, continuing escort duties until 2nd April 1945, when she was taken for refit by the Lunenburg Foundry and Engineerin Ltd. at Lunenburg , N.S. She was ready for sea again on 4th June 1945. because requirements in the Pacific war did not call for corvettes in the campaign against japan, Oakville was paid off for disposal at Sydney N.S. on 16th July 1945 and sailed to Sorel, Quebec to be laid up.
Oakville was sold to the Government of Venezuela in whose navy she served from 17th October 1945 until 11th August 1959 as the "Patria"

Note:
The picture depicts H.M.C.S. Oakville as she would have appeared after the alterations were made in Galveston, Texas with the extended fo'c's'le, not as originally commissioned with the short fo'c's'le which was still the construction at the time of ramming and sinking U-94.
The mayor of Oakville, Harry Barrett made many attempts to locate the ship after she was decommissioned by the Venezualian Navy on 11 August 1962. It is believed it was scrapped shortly thereafter.
