GEORGE W. BLACK
George Black, one of the early pioneers of the Scotch Block, Esquesing, died at the General Hospital, Guelph, on Sunday, 20th last. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon from the residence of his son, Hugh Black, Esquesing. Deceased was in his 83rd year, and during his lifetime was an uncompromising foe of the liquor traffic, being especially prominent during the life of the Scott Act, when he took an active part in its enforcement as a preventive officer. A man of strong will power, and of splendid physique in his earlier days, he was not easily turned from the path of duty. In politics he was a Liberal and in religion a Presbyterian. He was an honest, upright man and highly esteemed. - Featured Link
