AT THE COLORADO HOME
Funeral of Mrs. J. Chester Matthews
at Rockvale, Colorado

The Florence, Col., Journal gives the following interesting particulars of the funeral of the late Mrs. J. Chester Matthews at her father's home:
"The last sad rites over the remains of the late Mrs. J. Chester Matthews were held at the home of deceased's father, Mr. Charles Grant, at Rockvale, yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock, Rev. R. Silkwood, of the Methodist Church, officiating.
The home was thronged with a large circle of devoted friends of the family from all parts of the county and the beautiful casket, was banked with a profusion of flowers, contributions of love and respect from friends and neighbors and the Church and Sunday School. It was a most impressive service. The young people's choir of the Rockvale Methodist Church rendered a number of beautiful selections and Miss Mary Price, an old schoolmate of the deceased, sang a solo entitled "Remembrances of Childhood."
Rev. Mr. Silkwood, in a comforting address to the bereaved family, spoke of the high type of Christian womanhood of Mrs. Matthews; her optimism; her unselfishness, her patience in suffering; her confidence in prayer and the splendid influence of her life. It was a message filled with hope for the future and is a splendid tribute to her past.
The minister read a letter from the church at Acton, Ontario, in which it was stated that the loss of Mrs. Matthews was most keenly felt by the congregation and people in general and it also spoke of the high character of the family in general.
The remains were laid to rest in the quietude of Lakeside Cemetery at Canon City. It was an automobile funeral and one of the largest ever held in the county."
