Description
William "Bill" Banting, sporting a hat and ring. The hat (which reads "Banting Hotel"), and ring were gifts from the Banting Interpretation Center in Musgrave Harbour, Newfoundland. Sir Frederick Banting died in a plane crash in Musgrave Harbour while en route to England to do war-related research. The ring was made from the wrecked plane's propeller blade.
