- Peter Taylor, a gunner serving with the 23rd Field Regiment, participated in armed forces running events in Europe. He tied two Army Records, the 100 and 220 yard dash, in August 1945 at the Maple Leaf Stadium in Nijmegen, Holland, and was awarded The Turner Trophy by Field Marshall Sir Bernard Law Montgomery.
